Pianist and Educator

Aida Sigharian Asl, born in Tehran, Iran,  started studying piano at the age of 6. In 2001 she was accepted into the piano class of M. Baudet at the Amsterdam Conservatory and later into the class of Willem Brons with whom she obtained her diploma. She attended the Masters at the Utrecht Conservatory with Paolo Giacometti and Ralph van Raat. She took lessons from such teachers as H. Austbo, T. Hartsuiker, W. Banfield, N. Grubert. I. Parkany, D.Ferschtman, Udo Reinemann, Rudolf Jansen, Gary Hoffman, I. Grubert, Toby Hoffman, Vitaly Margulis, Paul Badura Skoda, Luís de Moura Castro and Galina Egyazarova. At the age of 17 she played solo with Tehran’s “Orchestra of New Music”. In 2006, she won the “Piano Biennale” competition in Tehran. Since 2008, Aida is frequently invited to record and perform solo recitals and live chamber music. She was interviewed for Rádio Antena2, newspapers, radios and TV, both in Portugal and in Iran. Aida Sigharian was frequently invited to various festivals such as “Dias da Música” at the Centro Cultural de Belém in Portugal, “Festival Des Cimes e des notes” in France, she was invited to the 5th edition of the “Festival de Contemporary Music – MIHLSons- XXI” in Spain and “Music Festival From Classical to Contemporary” in Iran. In 2017, Aida did her master in Music Therapy in Spain.  In March 2019 she recorded the piano concerto by Maestro Alireza Mashavekhi (1940- ), specially dedicated to her in Tehran, with “Shargh Chamber Orchestra”. In 2020 she performed in the online concert at “Coletivo Pianovero”, with works by the composer Gurdjief and in 2021 Aida performed at the “First International Brazilian Classical Music Festival –USA” in New York, helping disadvantaged children to have a better musical education.

Currently, Aida is a collaborative pianist at the Conservatório de Música do Porto
